Corporate Training: Learning in the flow of work

Written by SeekLMS Correspondent on 07 October 2021

Corporate Training: both for the company in general and for the working person, is the most powerful tool we have to adapt to the demands of a work environment as changing and demanding as the current one. For this reason, a new necessary competence appears to be developed by workers in organizations, such as learning while we work (workflow)

The flow of work represents a revolution in the traditional training process in the company since from the traditional conception of receiving training in a classroom away from the workplace, there has been a need not only to receive training in the same job but while working or performing the task.

Against this background, working people, thanks to the advancement of new technologies and the Internet (who has not found information about what they need on the Internet, a video tutorial on YouTube, for example) must develop a more necessary competence for the proper performance of his job, to find the necessary content and apply it while learning.

The concept of training in the workplace takes on a new dimension with Learning in the Flow of Work.

From this conception, the talent management departments must become allies and facilitators by promoting not only the search and curation of content, but also, allowing them to be shared among the members of the work team, and most importantly, are recognized as such.

However, taking into account the training that occurs while we work (perhaps if you are reading this post in order to inform yourself about the training processes in the company you are using LEARNING IN THE FLOW OF WORK ) does not exclude the organization from carrying carry out training processes in a more “traditional” way, since they depend on the content, and these, of course, determine the best methodology that facilitates its acquisition and transfer by the person.

One of the greatest advantages of learning while we work is its immediacy, when facing the lack of time we have to train ourselves, so providing the necessary learning content at the right time boosts productivity, knowledge retention, and ultimately, learning.

From here, the characteristics that the content must meet to be useful while we work, based on our work experience in talent management departments, are basically three. Accessible when we really need it; on-demand, that is, available at any time and modality (for this, there are multiple digital platforms); and finally, useful, that their healing is of quality, that is, that it really serves the need we have.
